The Grigg Surname DNA Project aims to establish lines of ancestry amongst Grigg researchers. This includes variants of the Grigg surname as well as the MacGregor surname. As many Grigg researchers will know, there is much speculation about Grigg families being descended from the Scottish Clan of MacGregor & hopefully this project will help prove or disprove this. It should also help find any connections with the various Grigg families across England (the Cornwall Grigg's, the Worcestershire Grigg's, the Essex Grigg's, etc) & America's Grigg families. The more people that participate in this project, the more information can be obtained & added to the database. The DNA tests use various Y-chromosome markers passed on from father to son relatively unchanged & can therefore establish links going back many generations.
Please note that I have no connection with the companies involved other than I am a willing & enthusiastic participant!
The links below will take you to the relevant web-sites.
The first link is the Grigg FamilytreeeDNA Project run by FamilytreeDNA which conducts the DNA tests.
The second link is the web-site showing the results of various Grigg DNA tests. It explains & interprets the test results.(I hope to have my results there soon!)
The third link is to the FamilytreeDNA home-page. It lists the various surname tests being carried out & explains the DNA process.
The fourth link is to the Clan Gregor/Mcgregor DNA Project.
Please e-mail Dan Wharton, the Project Co-ordinator, if you are interested in participating or would like more information. (Click on mailbox to send e-mail)
